some recent pictures!

A couple of weeks ago we took Emrys to a playground in Regents Park. Unfortunately I think Trav and I were far more excited about this than Emrys, who treated the entire thing with cool nonchalance...some might say with boredom. Witness his reaction to being put in a swing:
Here he sits not having fun in a swing, but pondering the meaning of life, apparently.
He was slightly more interested in the whole thing when Trav put him on -- what are these called, anyway? Boingy animals? I think he mostly liked them because he could hold onto the handles.
I really like this one of the two of them.
Trying out the walker we bought him, which is actually not like a walker at all and more like a little trolley. Here I have caught in action one of the few moments when he actually uses it to walk with--mostly he likes to bang it vigorously against the floor, which is insanely loud and annoying. So. Not our smartest purchase ever, haha.
Little cutie with his most recent facial bruise. Poor baby.
Loving his cookie!!
Funniest picture ever, because he looks like a woeful little bird, hoarding his last scrap of food. Haha!
He looks like such a big boy in this outfit, I think.
Hanging with Trav in his "future nerd" onesie. So true. He really does not stand a chance.
SO HAPPY!
Why hello there Grandma and Grandpa!!

big boy hanging out!

Making funny faces in his high chair!
This one cracks me up. Funny baby! I'm not sure how he eats breadsticks with no teeth yet, but somehow he manages it. On that note...it seems a bit strange that his teeth are so slow in appearing...I'm not worried or anything, just wondering when they'll show up. He does seem to have one that has come through on the bottom, but you can't even really see it yet (granted, this is partly because he refuses to let us look at it--he opens his mouth fine but then leaves his tongue lolling about in the way and FREAKS if we try to move it...and let me tell you, tongues are slippery and difficult things to move around if the person in question is not cooperating, hahahaha...).
Sitting back like a big boy! This one also gives you a nice look at his recent bruise! All gone now but it was MASSIVE. There were, like, two levels of bruise happening at the same time.

Busy with the true passion of his life: watching the washer. Now he stands and does it, though, instead of sitting in his bumbo!! He will get his head right into the glass (it curves inwards) and lick it and pat it with his hands, trying to get at the laundry. If we ever live in a place without a glass window in the washer door he is going to be inconsolable...
I was cooking spaghetti and trying to do the Lady and the Tramp eating-spaghetti thing. Unfortunately the camera timer did not catch the more successful of our attempts--in this one the spaghetti clearly did not make it quite all the way into his mouth. Oh well. :)
Look at that browline!! Totally looks like a huge unibrow when he scrunches up his forehead like this.

This next one is my new favorite picture of him I think.
I clearly need to start buying him socks all in one colour, so that this sort of thing does not happen, haha.
Hanging out with Dad. (He can now make the sound "dada" but clearly has no idea that it ought to be associated with Travis. We are valiantly trying to impress this idea upon him, mostly by my gesturing frantically towards Travis whenever he makes the sound (even though I have read that babies up to a certain age don't understand when you point at things and tend to look at the pointing finger rather than follow the line to where it is pointing. So maybe what will come of all this is Em thinking that "dada" means "finger". Sigh.)).
Mohawk!!! Mom, when I did this I was thinking of what you used to do with Zachary's hair. (Of course he had a lot more of it to work with!) Also the single curl you used to do with Sarah's hair when she was a baby. I confess that I had to use a little hair gel to make this one happen.

p.s. weighed him on the home scale the other day, he came in at 22.6 pounds!
